Postdoc. opportunity in U.C. Merced There are two immediate openings for postdoctoral research positions available in the laboratory of Prof. Jennifer Lu at the University of California at Merced (Website: https://eng.ucmerced.edu/jluresearchgroup). Position 1: Research projects involve creating functional nanoscale composites. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with recent PhD in Polymer Science or related fields. Intensive experience in polymer synthesis such as anionic polymerization is essential. Hands-on experience and knowledge in macromolecule self-assembly is a plus. Position 2: The research project involves independent device-level synthesis of 1D nanostructures and novel device concept exploration. Highly motivated candidates with PhD training in electronic or electromechanical device fabrication and characterization are highly sought after. Preference will be given those who have in-depth experience in 1D nanomaterial synthesis using the chemical vapor deposition technique. Advanced understanding 1D nanomaterial physics is a plus. Candidates who are self-motivated, rigorous and responsible with a track record showing the ability to do independent research work are encouraged to apply. Projects are highly interdisciplinary. Appointees will have opportunities to work and interact with research groups in other universities, National Laboratories and industrial partner research laboratories. Occasional travel is required.
