In this paper, first, the organically modified nano-silica (mSiO2) was prepared by sol - gel method, and then as-prepared nano-silica was used to modify WRP. When mixed WRP and RPE was used to modify, the effect of mass fraction of modified rubber powder and nano-silica, and compatibilizer POE on mechanical properties of RPE/ WRP blended system was discussed. The experimental results showed that nano-silica modified with acid catalyst for the recovery of polyethylene powder (RPE) indicated the best mechanical properties.

When the modified nano-SiO2 powder accounted for 5% mass fraction of modified rubber powder, the best mechanical properties were attained. Addition of 5% POE increased both the tensile strength and elongation at break. Effect of thermoplastic elastomer ABS and ultra-fine talc on mechanical properties of HDPE was discussed.
