Catalysis Communications is pleased to announce the appointment of two new editors: Dr. Angelika Br¨¹ckner and Professor Andr¨¦ Mortreux. Dr. Br¨¹ckner is Head of the Department of Catalytic In-Situ Studies of the Leibniz-Institut f¨¹r Katalyse at the University of Rostock in Germany, where she specializes in mechanistic studies of heterogeneous catalytic reactions using operando and in situ spectroscopy. Dr. Mortreux is the Chair of Homogeneous Catalysis in the Unit¨¦ de Catalyse et Chimie du Solide at the Universit¨¦ des Sciences et Technologie de Lille in France. He focuses in his research on metathesis, asymmetric catalysis, carbonylation and polymerization catalysis. At the same time, we would like to recognize the past contributions to the success of the journal of Professor Bernhard L¨¹cke, one of the founding editors. Prof. L¨¹cke has retired as editor at the end of 2008. He has been a major contributing force to the development of the journal as it has grown from its beginnings in 2003 until 2008. Currently, the journal is processing more than 1000 manuscripts each year from over 50 countries and these numbers are growing significantly each year. In 2007, Catalysis Communications had an impact factor of 2.394 and more than 321,000 downloads via ScienceDirect. In order to match submissions with the most appropriate Editor, we now ask authors to select an Editor based on subject area. We have also revised and restructured the classifications in our submissions database to assist the Editors in choosing the most appropriate referees. These new developments will help streamline the review process at every step along the way. Please log onto the EES submission & review database at http://ees.elsevier.com/catcom/ and update your profile with your current contact information (mailing address, e-mail address, and telephone number). Please also be sure to select Personal Classifications, which will allow the Editors to best match manuscripts with your area(s) of expertise. If you have any problems accessing your EES account, please contact our customer service department at support@elsevier.com. Since its founding, Catalysis Communications has aimed to provide rapid publication of important short papers across the broad spectrum of catalytic research covering homogeneous, heterogeneous, and enzymatic catalysis. We are constantly working to decrease the time required between submission and publication. For this, we depend heavily on our excellent reviewers to contribute peer reviews in a timely fashion. It is they who ensure the quality of the papers published. Along with our sister catalysis journals published also by Elsevier (Journal of Catalysis, Applied Catalysis A & B, Journal of Molecular Catalysis A & B, and Catalysis Today), Catalysis Communications provides a comprehensive outlet for the publication of significant findings in catalytic research. Of these journals, Catalysis Communications is the only one that is focused on the rapid publication of short communications of major new findings in catalytic research. In order to better meet this as our primary goal, we plan that future papers published will have a clear emphasis on novel catalytic results of major significance with potential high impact in the specific area. Finally, we would like to express our most sincere thanks for the past efforts by both our authors and reviewers in helping us develop Catalysis Communications into a high quality journal. Best Regards, Jim Goodwin James G. Goodwin, Jr., PhD Editor-in-Chief, Catalysis Communications Professor and Chairman Department of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering Clemson University Clemson, SC 29634-0909 USA |
