In conclusion, our study demonstrates the efficacy, for a rapid screening of anti-oxidants, of combining cell-free methods, such as the DPPH assay, with biological tests using cells in which the effects of reactive oxygen species can be modulated by changes in the anti-oxidant defenses. The paradox of finding anti-oxidant properties assigned to pro-oxidant compounds could be explained by the involvement of free-radical formation in both pro-oxidant and anti-oxidant activities.

我们的研究表明,对于抗氧化剂的快速筛选,把无细胞方法与有细胞的生物测定法结合起来非常有效,前者如DPPH法,在后者中,活性氧的影响可通过改变抗氧化剂来调控。在氧化强化剂和抗氧化剂的作用过程中都有自由基的形成,这可以解释“找出归属于氧化强化剂的抗氧化性质”这一悖论。
