原文：The newer municipal incinerators are usually the continuously burning type, and many have “waterwall” construnction in the combustion chamber in place of the older, more common refractory lining. The waterwall consists of joined vertical boiler tubes containing water. The tubes absorb the heat to provide hot water for steam, and they also control the furnace temperature. With waterwall units, costly refractory maintenance is eliminated, pollution control requirements are reduced (because of the reduction in quench water and gas volumes requiring treatment), and heat recovery is simpler.
