How do I register as a Highly Cited Researcher?

When you have been identified by ISI as a Highly Cited Researcher, you will receive an e-mail from us inviting you to send curriculum vitae and publication lists to ISI for inclusion in ISIHighlyCited.com.
When your record is prepared by ISI, we will send you an Author Publication Number (APN) and Registration number.
From the Home page, click the Update button.
From the Highly Cited Researcher Author Login page, click the word register in the "Need to register?" link.
From the New Author Registration page, type your Author Publication Number.
Type your Registration Number. Note: Authors receive the Registration Number via e-mail.
Type a password. Tip: Your password is case-sensitive.
Type your password again for verification.
Type your e-mail address. Important: if you forget your password, ISI will send you a message at this e-mail address. Your e-mail address is case-sensitive.
Type your mother's maiden name or some other meaningful name or word. Important: This information is used only to verify your identity if you forget your password.
Click the Submit button.
Tip: To erase what you have typed at any time, click the Clear button.

Who can edit the author record of a highly cited researcher?

Only highly cited researchers can edit their author record. To do this, enter your User ID and Password on the Login page.

While you are editing your record, the public can still view your current author record. They will not be able to see any changes you make until after you submit your changes to ISI for processing.

Whenever you make changes to a particular category in your author record, an X appears to the left of the Add New or Edit button. This signifies that changes were made to the record. The Xs will continue to display until after you have submitted your changes to ISI for processing by clicking the Submit changes to ISI for review button.


How do I add new information to my author record?

From the home page, click the Update button.
From the Login page, enter your APN and password, and then click the Submit button.
From the Author Record page, find the category in which you want to add new information (e.g., Education, Memberships, Research Interests, and so forth).
Click the Add New button that appears in the title line to go to the Add New page for the selected category. For Publications, first click the View Publication List button, then click the Add New button.
Enter the new information, and then click the Submit button. The information is added to the top row in the table at the bottom of the page.
When you have finished entering all new entries, click the Done button to return to the author record page. Note that an X appears to the left of the Add New button signifying that new information was added to your author record.
If you are finished entering new information for all categories, click the Save changes (continue editing) button to store your changes or click the Submit changes to ISI for review button to submit your changes to ISI for processing.
How do I edit information in my author record?

From the home page, click the Update button.

From the author record page, find the category in which you want to change information (e.g., Contact Information, Education, Memberships, and so forth).
Click the Edit button to go to the appropriate Edit page. For publications, first click the View Publication List button, then click the Edit button.
Make any necessary changes, and then click Done to return to the author record page. Note that an X appears to the left of the Edit button signifying that changes were made to your author record.
If you are finished editing information in all categories, click the Save changes (continue editing) button to store your changes or click the Submit changes to ISI for review button to submit your changes to ISI for processing.
What's the purpose of the Save changes (continue editing) button?

The Save changes (continue editing) button enables you to store any changes you have made to your author record without submitting the changes to ISI for processing. Your author record, however, is not changed for immediate public viewing until after you have submitted your record to ISI.

Use the Save changes (continue editing) button if you are unable to complete your edit, but would like to save your work to finish at another time.

What's the purpose of the Submit changes to ISI for review button?

The Submit changes to ISI for review button enables you to send your changes to ISI for processing. Click this button after you have completed all needed changes to your author record. After you click the Submit changes to ISI for review button, the system automatically logs you off.

After submitting your changes to ISI, you cannot make any additional changes until the record is reviewed, processed, and published by ISI. This means you cannot access your record and your changes are not immediately available for public viewing until after the record is published.

What's the purpose of the Log Off button?

The Log Off button enables you to safely exit ISIHighlyCited.com. ISI recommends that you click the Log Off button to end a session even if you do not make changes to your author record; otherwise, unpredictable results could occur.

Can you tell me more about the record status?

The status of the record displays under the author's name in the Status field. For example, if you are making changes to the current record, you will see the following message.

Status: [Changes from in progress]

This means that changes were made on the date specified in the status line.

After you submit the record to ISI, and it is processed and released for public viewing, the changes to the actual date that the record was approved by ISI editors.

When does my updated author record become available to the public?

Generally, ISI will release changes made to the author record within a week after the changes are submitted to ISI for process
