Reverse osmosis membranes have received extensive attention and concern due to their scientific significance and potential application in alleviating environmental pollution and the shortage of water resources. The key constituent that determines the efficiency, resistance to microbial contamination, high flux and ½ØÑÎÂÊ is the novel microorganism-resistant material on the surface of the membrane. This study targets on the new generation of antibacterial constituents and structure of reverse osmosis membranes through modification on the  ultra-thin functional layer and anti-pollution layer on the surface of the membranes. The preparation of new organic-inorganic(metal) hybrid structure RO materials through in-situ polymerization, Composite modification, fabrication of micro-nano-morphology, as well as the exploration on the relationship between the mcrobial resistance mechanism of the membrane and its structural properties have offered a new way to the development of new microbial resistant reverse osmosis membranes

Reverse osmosis membranes are widely highlighted owing to their scientific significances and potential practice values in solving problems of environmental contamination and shortage of water. Meanwhile, the new type antimicrobial materials of reverse osmosis membranes are keys to realize performances such as high efficiency, anti-microbial-contamination, high water flux and high salt rejection. In this article, components and structures of new type antimicrobial materials are discussed. Also, to modify the ultra-thin functional layer and anti-fouling layer of reverse osmosis membranes surfaces, to make new type anti-reverse-osmosis materials with organic-inorganic (metallic) hybridized structures by means of in-situ polymerization, composite modifications and micron-nanometer construction are discussed in this article. This article provides some new thoughts and ways to manufacture new type anti-microbial-contamination reverse osmosis membranes.
