The GMZ bentonite (75.4 wt % montmorillonite) was obtained from the Beijing Research Institute of Uranium Geology without further processing. It was compacted to bulk dry densities of 2000 kg/m . The bentonite sample was sandwiched between two stainless steel filters and the end plates are mounted. Two reservoirs (200ml and 20ml) were connected to two side of the cell and synthetic pore waters of Gansu Beishan were used as restorations solutions. After 60 days of restorations, the solution in source reservoir was replaced by a fresh one, labeled with Se (18000 mg/L) and Re (1800 mg/L) and through-diffusion started. A stock solution of Se(IV) and Re(VII) are prepared in distilled water using Se〇2 (from Sinopharm Reagant) and NH4Re〇4 (Alfa Aesar, 99.997%), respectively. The total volume of labeled solution was 200 cm3 and the solution of receiving reservoir (20 cm ) was replaced at 1-2 days. All experiments were performed under laboratory conditions. The concentration of Se(IV) and Re(VII) were determined by ICP-OES (PerkinElmer Optima 2100DV). After reaching the steady state phase, the solutions in both reservoirs were replaced by fresh one (20 cm3) without Se(IV) and Re(VII). Out-diffusion was started and solution was replaced regularly until all Se(IV) and Re(VII) had diffused out of the samples. The experimental procedure and data processing were the same as that of used for through- and out- diffusion experiments [16]. |
