Dr. Zizhong Chen ( http://www.cs.ucr.edu/~chen ) from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of California, Riverside invites applications for Ph.D. studies in the areas of high performance computing, parallel and distributed systems, and big data processing. Dean's Distinguished Fellowships will be provided for all PhDs for the first year and then RAs/TAs will be provided afterwards. Dr. Chen has published many papers in top HPC and cloud computing journals and conferences including TPDS, TC, JPDC, ICS, PPoPP, HPDC, IPDPS, and SC. He is a recipient of the U.S. National Science Foundation CAREER Award and the International Supercomputing Conference Best Paper Award. Dr. Chen is a Senior Member of the IEEE and a Life Member of the ACM. He currently serves as a Subject Area Editor for the Elsevier Parallel Computing journal PARCO. Qualified candidates are expected to have strong programming experiences in C, or C++ or Fortran under Linux platform and good English writing skills. Students with strong CS, Math, EE, or Physics backgrounds are especially encouraged to apply.
