Via FEM, the effects of some key structural parameters on the maximum voltage are analyzed. Then the optimized parameters are used to provide high voltage for ER fluid in an experimental study. Although some contributions are found in this manuscript, there are several problems as follows. (1) Although the authors think “they proposed methods to optimize the parameters to maximize the harvested voltage”, in fact, there is no such an optimization method in this manuscript. In Section 3.1, the authors should provide detail description about their optimization method. (2) Although some useful conclusions have been drawn, few original contents are found. The authors should explain what novel work is there in their study. If the authors can provide answers to above problems, I will consider this manuscript again. Reviewer: 2 Comments to the Author The work and results are very interesting, but poorly explained and justified. It would be interesting to include a comparison study and finite element d31 and d33 modes. It is not entirely justified why the d33 mode is chosen. The images have very poor quality. The experimental design, varying length and diameter on one side on the other, does not consider that may have crossed factors further optimize the geometric solution. I would recommend make some kind of multivariate statistical analysis. These results can be represented more graphically that a table (for example a surface) shape. The work would be more complete if it would included some kind of theoretical development (as paper referenced [1]) and if it would be compared with finite element models and real ensayo.
