The professor deserves it I think, in china, people don't respect patterns, they directly copy other study results, and the government should punish these kinds of crime severely.

On his infringement of patented technologies, it is a bit early to make some conclusive comments. If that is a direct stealing then yes he deserve it, but if he is involved during development, then please refer to the NDA document terms normally that would tell everything you cannot do.
