Based on these facts,Yan et al. [31] reported the microbial transformation of 3-hydroxy-5,6-cyclopropanocholestanes-an alter route to 6-methylsteroids. Incubation of 3b-hydroxy-5, 6 a -cyclopropano-5 a -cholestane (6)with Mycobacterium sp. (NRRL B-3805) gave three metabolites, 5,6 a -cyclopropano-5 a -androsta-3, 17-dione (7), 3b-hydroxy-5,6 a -cyclopropano-5 a -androsta-17-one (8) and androsta-4-ene-3,17-dione (5). Fermentation of 3b-hydroxy-5, 6b-cyclopropano-5b- cholestane (9) with Mycobacterium sp. afforded the metabolite 5,5, 6b-cyclopropano-5b-androsta-3, 17-dione (10) and 3 a -hydroxy-5, 6b-cyclopropano-5b-androsta-17-one (11). Similarly, incubationof 3b-hydroxy-5, 6 a -cyclopropano-5 a -cholest-7-ene (12) with Mycobacterium sp. yielded a mixture of side chain cleaved 17-keto steroids as the major products, viz. the cyclopropyl eliminated product 5, 5, 6 a -cyclopropano-5 a -androst-7-ene-3, 17-dione (13), 3b-hydroxy-5, 6 a -cyclopropano-5 a -androst-4-ene-17-one (14), 5, 6 a -cyclopropano-5 a -androst-8(14)-ene-3, 7, 17-trione (15), 5, 6 a -cyclopropano-5 a -androst-8-ene-3, 7, 17-trione (16) and 6 a , 7 a -cyclopropanoandrost-4-ene-3, 17-dione (17) as described in Scheme 2. a为α,b为β |
