| Then, an amount of 10 ml of reacted stock solution was taken and added with a few droplets of silver nitrate solution, it is apparent that yellow colour precipitate is form and a decrease in yellow precipitate can farther be observed after addition of ammonia into the mixture. The final precipitate obtained therefore can be predicted consists of silver iodide. The precipitate was then subjected to PXRD and XPS testing after filtration followed by drying process without sunlight. From the PXRD diffratogram, the peak position of the precipitate was basically overlap with peak position of pure silver nitrate. Furthermore, the composition of silver nitrate in the precipitate was detected and determined by the XPS testing. The prediction is corret. |

It then can be predicted that there is silver iodide in the final precipitates. The precipitates were then subjected to PXRD and XPS testing after filtration followed by light-resistant drying process. It can be seen from the PXRD pattern that the peak position of the precipitate and that of pure silver basically overlap. Moreover, the XPS testing also confirmed the presence of silver nitrate in the precipitates. So the prediction is correct. |
