Carrying the analogy further 用法？

在读外文文献的时候，遇到这样一句话： Carrying the analogy further, it also strengthens the prediction of the biogenetic origin of the tricyclic terpanes from cyclization of regular polyprenols in bacterial membranes. 有点不懂 Carrying the analogy further, 这里可以翻译为 ”以此类推“吗？ 还是翻译成其他的意思更合适？ 希望大家给出合理的解释，最好可以附上例句和意思，这样用法比较一目了然！谢谢大家赐教！O(∩_∩)O |
