| Zeolite and sol–gel-derived silica are representative classes of silica-based nanoporous materials with practical use for catalysis and separation in the chemical industry.In particular,crystalline zeolites having molecular-sieve properties show great performance as shape-selective catalysts and separation membranes. Utilization of zeolites in emerging applications such as enantioselective catalysis and optoelectronics, however, has been constrained by difficulties in functionalization of their inorganic frameworks. |
