Zeolite and sol–gel-derived silica are representative classes of silica-based nanoporous materials with practical use for catalysis and separation in the chemical industry.In particular,crystalline zeolites having molecular-sieve properties show great performance as shape-selective catalysts and separation membranes. Utilization of zeolites in emerging applications such as enantioselective catalysis and optoelectronics, however, has been constrained by difficulties in functionalization of their inorganic frameworks.

沸石与溶凝胶石英是典型的硅基无孔的材料,它们对化工业中的催化和分离反应,有实际作用。值得一提的是,含有分子筛性能的晶体沸石,与择形催化剂和分离膜一样,(在化学反应中)能起到很大的作用。

Utilization of zeolites in emerging applications such as enantioselective catalysis and optoelectronics, however, has been constrained by difficulties in functionalization of their inorganic frameworks.
然而,沸石在新兴行业中(如对映选择性催化和光电子学行业)的应用,却因为沸石无机框架功能化过程中的难点问题(没有解决),其作用难以完全显现。
