Based on the techniques, the microstructures of high performance AL/SiC composite were analyzed in detail by means of OM, SEM, TEM and XRD. The result revealed that Al/SiC composite with SiC volume fraction over 50% could be fabricated by the. two above techniques, and the microstructures of the composite were uniform and dense. At the same time, the interfaces between SiC particle and Al bonded well. The XRD test result showed that the composite by plasma spraying consisted of SiC and Al, along with crystal Si. While SiC and Al were main phases in the flame sprayed composite, and a few Al2O3 was found in the composite. Compared to the plasma spraying composite, the composite oxidation and porosity made through flame spraying were a little higher. Meanwhile, a few nano-grain and particle were found in the plasma sprayed composite.
