【请教】关于审稿意见中XRD解释的一个小问题。

我是把Cu粉和Si3N4粉放在高能球磨机中进行球磨的，对图中的解释为 Figure 2 depicts the XRD patterns of as-milled Cu-25 wt% Si3N4 at different stages of milling. It was confirmed that only two phases of Cu and Si3N4 were present in the as-milled powders. It was also found that with increasing the milling time, the diffraction peaks of Cu and Si3N4 became broader. This change revealed a reduced grain size and an elevated strain energy stored inside particles, because of the severe plastic deformation introduced during ball milling. As the milling time increased, the diffraction peaks of the as-milled powders were rougher, suggesting that the deformation of the crystals became much stronger. 图中(a)3 h, (b) 7 h, (c) 9 h, and (d) 12 h。 审稿人提出 What is the meaning of "rougher" XRD peaks? 我该怎么回答，我本意为随着时间的延长，衍射峰越来越粗糙。用rough的比较级rougher来表示更粗糙，不知道合适不？有没跟合适的词来表达更粗糙的意思。 [ Last edited by luzhijian on 2008-5-30 at 09:09 ] |

If you want to describe the intensity of XRD decreased with milling time, and thererfore, the background became more obvious, you need to confirm the full scale (y-axis) were the same for all patterns.Otherwise, there are no meaning for the comparison. Or you want to exlpain the FWHM of XRD peak broadenign with milling time. |
