Birdi Publisher: CRC Publication Date: 2003-02-26 Number Of Pages: 328 This book explains, analyzes, and demonstrates the use of the widely used scanning probe microscope, which uses a tiny, computer-controlled stylus to scan surfaces and generate a model of their atomic structure. The author includes a variety of applications to enhance the tutorial, such as applications in organic and inorganic chemistry, liquid crystal imaging, immuno-diagnostic systems, and a diverse sampling of STM and AFM in industry. Based on underlying technology that earned its developers the 1986 Nobel Prize, this reference is a must for analytical chemists in industries as diverse as pharmaceuticals, MEMS, nanotechnology, and biomedicine. Scanning probe microscopes are explained, analyzed, and demonstrated.
