The author includes a variety of applications to enhance the tutorial, such as applications in organic and inorganic chemistry, liquid crystal imaging, immuno-diagnostic systems, and a diverse sampling of STM and AFM in industry. Based on underlying technology that earned its developers the 1986 Nobel Prize, this reference is a must for analytical chemists in industries as diverse as pharmaceuticals, MEMS, nanotechnology, and biomedicine. Scanning probe microscopes are explained, analyzed, and demonstrated.
