| As the neutralization degree of AA increased (Fig. 1(d)), the swelling capacity of the resin increased, and then decreased thereafter. This result was observed because the increase in neutralization degree led to an increase in the concentration of COO− on the resin surface. The atomic oxygen of COO− has coordination effects on heavy metal ions and is capable of chelation, which improve the adsorption capacity of the resin. The increase in neutralization leads to an increase in COONa ion concentration in the reaction system. The dissociation of COONa into COO− in water is much more favored. The dissociation of COOH increases in COONa and leads to more COO−. More carboxylic acid anions on the network chain made the chain more stretchable. |
