The Φf of DMCS-TPA in THFwas estimated to be 5.3% using 9,10-diphenylanthracene (DPA) in ethanol (Φf= 95%) as the standard.While the DMCS-TPA powder shows bright yellowish green fluorescence with a Φf of 48.59% (Table 1), indicating its efficient emission in the solid state. The phenomenon demonstrates the AIE nature of DMCS-TPA, which could be attributed to the restricted internal rota-tions and decreased solvent polarity effect when molecules precipitate. The comparatively larger Φf value of DMCS-TPA powder than that of BMBCP (42.35%) implies that the cruciform structure of DMCS-TPA effectively depresses strong Π–Π inter-actions between the DCS axis thus diminishing emission quenching.
