Research Progress to Improve the Conductivity of LiFePO4 Cathode Materials for Lithium Ion Batteries

Abstract: As a new type of cathode materials for lithium ion banery, the olivine LiFePO4 has many advantages, such as abundant resources, low cost, environmental friend, higher energy density and theoretical capacity, smady discharge voltage, good thermal stability and excellent cycling performance, to be a strong competitor for the next generation cathode materials for lithium ion banery.However, the problem of lower conductivity has been very prominent in the process of synthesis and partical of lithium iron phosphate. This article described the structure of LiFePO4 cathode material, the mechanism of charge-discharge and Li+ transport diffusion in LiFePO4. A variety of methods to improve the conductivity of LiFePO4 have described in this paper, mainly carbon-doped and coated, metal powder, doped metal ion and so on.

摘要

As a new type of cathode materials for lithium ion battery, the olivine LiFePO4 has many advantages, such as abundant resources, low cost, environmental friend, higher energy density and theoretical capacity, steady discharge voltage, good thermal stability and excellent cycling performance, to be a strong competitor for the next generation cathode materials for lithium ion banttery. However, the problem of lower conductivity has been very prominent in the process of synthesis and pratical of lithium iron phosphate, This article described the structure of LiFePO4 cathode material, the mechanism of charge-discharge and Li+ transport diffusion in LiFePO4. A variety of methods to improve the conductivity of LiFePO4 have been described in this paper, mainly carbon-doped and coated, doped metal powder, doped metal ion and so on.
