Anti-corrosive paints based on different pigments The pigments prepared were incorporated into 12 paint formulations based on medium oil alkyd resin, as shown in Tables III-V. These paint formulations were divided into three groups. A formulation containing hematite (naturally occurring iron oxide) was included in each group for comparison. Each formulation group has a different pigment/binder ratio, so as to compare the efficiency of the pigments with respect to the binder, in an attempt to show the best pigment/binder ratio that afford the best corrosion inhibition effect of these pigments. The P/B ratios selected were 1.74, 2.233, and 2.94 for the three groups, respectively. All paint formulations were prepared and adjusted to have the following characteristics: . viscosity of four Poise; and . dry paint film thickness of 50m for the measurements of physico-mechanical properties.
