Colour measurements The colour properties of the pigments were measured. A Hunter lab D25-2 colour/difference meter was used to measure and specify the colours of the samples prepared in comparison with the Bayer’s standard samples, based on the widely used “Commission Internationale de l’Eclairage” (CIE) system. The chromaticity co-ordinates x′, y′,and z′， for the coloured samples were calculated as follows: x′=X/（X+Y+Z）,y′=Y/(X+Y+Z),z′=Z/(X+Y+Z) where x′, y′ and z′ denote chromaticity co-ordinates in the CIE. diagram, and X, Y, Z are the readings taken from the equipment representing the co-ordinates.The values of x′,y′ and z′ corresponding to the colour of any surface are independent of the reflection characteristic and the spectral distribution of the light that falls upon it.
