The successful candidate will participate in the research program of Dr. Xiangyang Lei, focused on the development and applications of new transition metal-based catalysts. The position will start in January 2015, with continued appointment for up to two years being dependent upon performance and availability of funding. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Home to more than 14,000 students, Lamar University is one of the fastest growing universities in Texas and is a member of The Texas State University System. The 270-acre campus in Beaumont is about 90 miles east of Houston and about 25 miles west of Louisiana. Minimum Qualifications Candidates are expected to have a recent Ph.D. in chemistry, demonstrated proficiency in multi-step organic/organometallic synthesis, and expertise in air sensitive techniques, NMR, GC, GC-MS, HPLC, and LC-MS analysis. Preferred Qualifications Security Sensitive Statement This position is security-sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information.
