Chiral epichlorohydrin is an important intermediate for organics and pharmacal synthesis. Chemical and biological ways are employed for production of chiral epichlorohydrin. For bioresolution way, chiral epichlorohydrin and corresponding diol can be obtained by hydrolyzing racemic epichlorohydrin with epoxide hydrolase. Moreover, Chiral epichlorohydrin can be biosynthesized asymmetrically from chiral chloride. Excessive glycerol, as a by-product, will emerge with the development of biodiesel, and it is suitable to find some novel ways to consume glycerol to produce chrial epichlorohydrin.
