How to Adjust Mentality

As a recruit, it is my first post here. In fact, this is turned in my mind for a long time cause I don’t like to present anything on public place or internet-forums which may be read by my acquaintance. It always makes me feel upset. Thanks to this forum, I can express myself with freedom. I have no idea about the insouciance on my study for the past several summers. The thought of summer always hating me come into my mind now and then even although I’m not fetishistic. Every day, I came to the lab as the others do, however, I couldn’t be able to focus my attention on my study. Time passed day by day, I was even not clear what I had done. My study still stayed at the original place and it seemed that it would be keep stagnant. I felt very uneasy and tried my best to seek for a breakthrough, but I found my attempt was futile. Only one year left for me to complete my Ph.D study, I’m not afraid of it as my previous work is not bad but I just want more outcomes during the period of pursuing my Ph.D. It is a common sense that we should learn to adjust our mentality casue life couldn’t always satisfy us. We should learn to adapt to the rapidly changing society, city and life. My dear friends, have you ever encountered or are you also encountering the same setback as me? Could you pls share your experience with us or advise us some suggestions? Hope everything goes well with everyone and bless all. |

Firstly, Do you have girl or boyfriend? Sometime, I think you can relax yourself, you could be on trip, study must combine with entertainment, the more happiness you are , the more achievement you will get! Secondly. you must think about why you studied and why you wanted to get more outcomes! you must understand yourself,and set a goal for yourself. Last, when I encouter the scene like you stay in, I will find a best friend and chat with him or her, because one of my best friends will enligten me! I will find some easy things to do, like that I can get more satisfication! Don't be alway to do some unresolution problems which you had long time .Sometime change you mood, change your emotions, change your situation,change your mind, you will be easy to get answer or the key you most need! Best wishes to you ! Good luck to you get your Ph.D ! |

curton: 金币+10, ESEPI+1, Actully everyone have the same experience just like you ,it is just a period of our life ! i think you should make your life and work separate ,lab life is boring ,so you should have a abundant sparetime life .you can go a hiking in the weekends or chart whit friends ...remember don not make yourself too tired! 2014-07-31 13:11:03

:jok Oh, I haven't been here for a long time and recently I was working out a paper written in Chinese, being away from English. I hope you guys do not laugh at my messy words. I totally understand how hard it is to adjust mentality, because my major is psychology and coincidentally I paid tremendous efforts on some mental disorders such as depression, anxiety and so forth before I finished B.A. You are a Phd student and known to all, it is under great pressure,but I do not know what is your prior worry about life, is it you are still single and hope for a girlfriend to get married with or you are getting old but not accumulating as much wealth as other peers? Because most of them have already been working for years and got promoted to fairly high position but even if you are graduated, you can not earn much money as they do. You must figure out what you cares most about. Then, as soon as you have chosen to pursue a higher degree and fulfill your academic experience, please do not forget your original wish. Maybe you are dreaming to be a engineer or a college teacher, maybe you are not that into research, phd is just a step to support you to go up higher. Whatever, remember to check out your dream and fight for it. I would like to share your my lately story. I am a postgraduate psychology student now and my research interest is cognition that is a little far away from your request which fall into clinical psychology. But my mentor asked me to complete a paper which I am not familiar with, no matter the subject or the research method. However, I had no receding but to learn how to use AMOS and settle down a series of errors. During that period I was on the edge of falling apart since I got no one to turn to for help and I learnt how to operate that annoying software but I found my results were so weak and not up to standard. I had to fix my model which I hated most. Finally I worked out a fairly good output. Telling the truth, I was really desperate about my life especially a sense of solitude and only you can save yourself. I think, perhaps, you are feeling the same as I do, because my mentor told me not to be perfect and I still could not persuade myself against being better and stop trying. This yearning for better heart drags us into this dark abyss, but gives us a chance to climb up a higher mountain to witness a more marvelous scenery that was not within those flinching people's vision.  |

Thanks for sharing your inspirational story with us. I don't hate scientific research, to some extent, I love it very much. The final outcomes is the most enjoyable event for me although the process frustrated me sometimes. Now I'm trying my best to adjust myself and also, I plan to go on a journey next week. Hope everything could be on the right track then. yeah, I'm still single and that is not the problem, either, I'm not eager to get married now as my job is still suspending. Huge wealth is not my goal, I just want to do my favorite work and would like a peaceful life. As you said, I have to rearrange my dreams and keep fighting for it. Thank you very much for your kind suggestions. |
