Particularly, Eucommia ulmoides (EUO) has good anti-hypertensive effects. Investigations on various chemical substances in pharmacological studies were carried out through earlier animal laboratory tests. For instance, leaf and bark extracts of EUO were identified to be most effective on anti-hypertensive effect through content determination methods. Biologically active derivatives, such as lignans, iridoids, flavonoids, terpenoids and phenolic derivatives (i.e., catechins (CS), geniposidic acid (GPA), chlorogenic acid (GCA) and geniposide (GPS)) were also determined.
