Dear Friends and Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that the Fall 2014 recruitment round of the International PhD Program (https://www.mdc-berlin.de/2893/de/training/phd_program) at the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine (MDC) in Berlin, Germany, is now open. We are looking for highly motivated doctoral candidates with a background in biological sciences, physics, bioinformatics, or bioengineering and offer outstanding research and training opportunities in an international environment. Please find enclosed our advertising posters and program brochures with further information that you are very welcome to distribute to potentially interested students or contacts of yours. Under the umbrella of the Helmholtz Graduate School “Molecular Cell Biology”, doctoral training at the MDC and its partner organizations covers the areas of
Cardiovascular & Metabolic Research
Cancer Biology & Immunology
Neurobiology
Developmental Biology
Medical Systems Biology & Bioinformatics
Biophysics & Bioengineering

Complementing research in the lab, scientific training at the MDC and our partner institutions includes lectures in the main research areas, specialized workshops and introductions to new technologies, as well as interdisciplinary seminars. To foster personal development, we offer a range of soft skills courses tailored to the needs of PhD students at different stages of their doctorate. New students benefit from courses in project management, scientific writing and presentation, while special career development and networking activities are geared to help students advance to the next step in their career.

Within the Graduate School, students can apply to one of four thematically focused PhD programs:
The International Helmholtz Research School “Molecular Neurobiology” (MolNeuro)
The International Helmholtz Research School “Translational Cardiovascular and Metabolic Medicine (TransCard)
The MDC-NYU PhD Exchange Program in Medical Systems Biology
The German-Israeli Helmholtz Research School “Frontiers in Cell Signaling and Gene Regulation” (SignGene)
