The Centre for Responsible Tourism in the Hollings Faculty of Manchester Metropolitan University has funding to support the appointment of two full-time PhD students (fees and stipend) or more places if they are fees only.

We are therefore seeking formal expressions of interest from individuals who would like to pursue a PhD in tourism and local economic development/poverty reduction under the supervision of Professor Harold Goodwin . It is expected that the PhD theses will have a strong focus on measuring and reporting outcomes, and local economic impact in particular.

The PhD students will be selected by competitive interview. In the first instance please submit a cv and between 500 and 1000 words about why you would like to study with us in the Centre for Responsible Tourism at MMU and explaining your interest and experience in tourism and local economic development. If you have a research proposal written you may send it, but it is not a requirement at this stage.

Please send your cv and supporting statement to Professor Harold Goodwin h.goodwin@mmu.ac.uk by the end of May. Please indicate whether you would like to study full-time in Manchester or be based away from Manchester most of the time.
