SECTOR: CP Kelco LOCATION: Shanghai China DEPARTMENT: China Food Sales TITLE: Food Technical Services Executive REPORTS TO: Technical Service Manager Job Purpose: (Why does the job exist?) The Food Technical Service position is a customer facing technical resource that understands customer needs & works with available resources to provide solutions to these. The purpose of the job is to drive the growth of China GAT food market by delivering clear value proposition, new concept ideas, providing technical training, implementing technical solutions in our focused segments to exceed the China GAT business objectives. Dimensions of Job: (Quantifiable characteristics for which the job has controlling impact, e.g. Dollar Measures (sales, supplies, finished products, payroll, revenue, etc.) and Personnel (number of subordinates, indirect subordinates or functional reports.) • A generalist (with specialization in a core segment) aligned with China GAT and KA support. • 75% customer interface, 25% documentation, follow up, email enquiries, bench work. Principal Accountabilities: (Four to ten statements of accountability which can be observed or measured.) • Actively work with China GAT, regional marketing at targeted KA /segments to identify and technically support the progress of projects from ideation to commercialization. • Accurately ask, understand and communicate customer needs to CSA via TSR. • Linking CPKelco product functionality to new potential applications. • Ability to understand and resolve customer enquiries/challenges and where needed accurately articulate customer needs/problems requiring further laboratory/pilot plant requirements (TSR). • Support KA plans with frequent exchanges with KA to understand customer needs, issues & opportunities, bridging CSA and KA and translate these to viable projects. • Be part of brainstorm and bring new concepts to KAs. • Work jointly with marketing and CSA to conduct technical seminars/ tradeshows/ innovation days (e.g. introduction of emerging applications) with key customers/ distributors. • Assist customers in production trials to ensure proper utilization of CPKelco polymers in a particular application to ensuring its full functionality during scale up. (present/ coordinate at customer trials) • Introduction of concept, new product, application to customers (working with Functional GATS of Marketing/CSA as needed). • Pre and post technical support to customers including responding to customer queries on email/ phone and face to face meeting. • Transfer successes in other GATS, region and localization of formulation for China markets. • Document (Saleslogix) TSR and visit report, pipeline project and follow up on technical discussions/ actions to be done following customer visits. • Develop technical presentations for customer visits and new product introductions. • Enhance CPKelco reputation through University outreach, participation in professional associations in the form of product and company promotions, booth. ------------------------------------------------- SECTOR: CP Kelco LOCATION: Shanghai China DEPARTMENT: CI&A Asia Pacific TITLE: Food CSA Manager REPORTS TO: CI&A Asia Pacific Director Job Purpose: (Why does the job exist?) The Food Customer Support & Application, CSA Manager, Shanghai provides innovation and application support to internal and external customers in the focused market segments and key accounts in the region. Work closely in corporation with market facing teams (Technical Service, Sales and Regional marketing) to achieve new business growth and defend existing business through efficient and proactive TSR work. Dimensions of Job: (Quantifiable characteristics for which the job has controlling impact, e.g. Dollar Measures (sales, supplies, finished products, payroll, revenue, etc.) and Personnel (number of subordinates, indirect subordinates or functional reports.) • Specialist with indepth CPKelco product knowledge and application knowledge in beverage plus another CAB segment. • 75% focused on laboratory work up to 25% supporting complex technical details of key projects/ visit or in depth troubleshooting. Laboratory works include development of innovative technical solutions to provide workable concepts or to enhance performance of customer products or meeting cost element. Principal Accountabilities: (Four to ten statements of accountability which can be observed or measured.) • Responsible for the overall day-to-day management of laboratory team, ensuring an efficient, accurate, effective work progression and ensuring staff adhere to documented laboratory procedures and EHS requirements. • To manage the efficient operation of the lab. Plan, organize and monitor the laboratory workload, experiment design ensuring all projects/TSRs are completed in a timely manner and results are delivered within agreed time frames. • Ensure the lab is compliant with the principle of EHS and applicable regulatory guidelines • Demonstrate knowledge of good lab practices including planning, executing and documentation of the work. • Motivating and encouraging team members. • Communicate, collaborate with CSA managers in and across region • Accurately Execute technical service request, TSRs with appropriate experimental design, completed and reported in a proper and timely manner for developing new business and defending businesses. TSR work will include (short to mid term timeframe): • Conduct formulation work on the bench and pilot plant for specific customer situation. (testing new products, regionalization of formulations, incorporating CPKelco products to meet specific requirement on performance, rheology, formulation cost). • Proper documentation, reporting and interpretation of formulation work, troubleshooting support. • Proactive development of appropriate prototype concepts and formulations with CPKelco hydrocolloids and functional systems for customer visits, seminar, trade show, customer visit etc. • Troubleshoot complex customer problems and provide recommendations with appropriate CPKelco hydrocolloids, process recommendation. Illustrated with prototypes and supporting data when necessary. • Appropriate use of CPK products in customer process condition (Understand effects). • Analysis and characterization of commercial products. (Understand market situation/ trends) • Provision of suitable match to competitor product performance and functionality. • Identify and work to find new applications with CPKelco technologies. (Linking product functionality to new application). • Develop provisional application formulations, AP # for new concepts and formulations. Transferring these to global PAN and contribute to technical monthly reports. • To support KA projects and plans as part of KA team member, on a technical prospective- Respond to more complex technical enquiries, development of concepts, specific detailed troubleshooting issues. • Pre and post sales technical support to complex technical enquiries from Technical service and / or customers. • Communicate and work with Technical service and regional marketing on collaboration projects with allied suppliers. • Cross fertilization and Interaction within CPKelco technical community. Competencies: (The knowledge/skills/abilities required to perform the job's basic accountabilities. Include education, years experience, languages and any licenses required.) 1. Education and / or experience • Academic Bsc. / Msc degree in Food science or processing. • Minimum 13 years experience in food industry. At least 7 years in Beverage and Yoghurt application support • Have 3 to 5 years of team management experience. • Practical experience in beverage or dairy application. • Diligent, competent, practical, with high attention to detail. • Have good communication skills including spoken and written English • Shows initiative and good discipline. 2.
