从图4(a)、(b)中可以看出,改性剂浓度越低,静曲强度和弹性模量在不同树高位置提高率越均衡合理。而高浓度改性剂(改性剂浓度为6%)时,在不同高度位置力学性能有较明显的递减。这可能是低浓度的改性剂不易在木材导管及孔隙内聚集并固化,而当改性剂浓度升高时,改性剂极易在短时间内就聚集在树底部的导管与孔隙内,固化并阻塞了改性剂往树梢方向的流动,从而影响了改性剂在立木内部的均匀分布,影响了静曲强度及弹性模量的变化率。同时,从图4(b)、(c)可以看出,在加入聚乙二醇后,静曲强度及弹性模量在不同树高位置的变化率更均匀,变化梯度不明显。其中在树底部位置与树干其它位置的变化率没有明显的递减,反而在加入聚乙二醇后,往树梢位置,树干的力学强度变化较树底部有更显著的提高。这可能是加入聚乙二醇后,作为一种表面活性剂,其能有效的使改性剂在树干内部扩散,而不易于在导管及孔隙内聚集固化,阻塞改性剂往树干上部的扩散,使得改性剂可以在改性过程中不断的在树干中上部富集,从而使得树高高度越大的位置静曲强度和弹性模量变化率越大。

MOR (static bending strength or modulus of rupture) , MOE (modulus of elastic),
It can be seen from Figure4(a) and 4(b)that the lower the concentration of the modifier, the more reasonable the MOR and MOE  improvement  rate of different  tree height  positions . At high concentrations modifier (modifier concentration of 6%), the mechanical properties at different height  locations much obviously decreased. It might  be  that  low  concentration modifier  is difficult to   aggregate and cure  in wood pores and high concentration modifying agent is easily collected in the catheters and pores in a short time  , which solidified and clogged the modifier's  flow  to the direction of the treetop, thus affected the uniform distribution of modifiers  inside the standing tree and  the change rate of the MOR and MOE  .It  can also  be seen from Figure 4 (b) and 4 (c)that  with  the addition of polyethylene glycol, the change  rate of  MOR and MOE   at different height positions become  more uniform and less obvious . Where in  the bottom of the tree trunk and other locations ,the  rate of change has no significant decrement. While the mechanical strength  of the tree  trunk  has more significant improvement toward the treetop    than the bottom  after the polyethylene glycol  was added to . It might be that the added polyethylene glycol, as a surfactant, can effectively diffuse the modifier inside the trunk. So it is not easy for the modifier to aggregate in the pores and catheter and cure. The upper blocked modifier diffusion promoted modifier enrichment in the upper tree trunk in the process of modification so that the change rate of MOR and MOE of greater tree height is much greater.
