Funded PhD position in cell and tissue mechanics, SUNY Buffalo

One funded PhD position will be available in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University at Buffalo, the State University of New York (SUNY). The position will be available in the Fall, 2014. The research area will focus on using bio-MEMS techniques to create novel cell culture platforms for cell mechanics and mechanobiological studies. Projects may include mechanics involved in the fibrosis diseases, cancer invasion and stem cell differentiation. Some research topics can be found on our website at http://www.acsu.buffalo.edu/~rgzhao/index.html Candidates with photolithography-based microfabrication experience, cell culture experience and strong experimental and analytical solid mechanics background are highly encouraged to apply. Candidate needs to have experience in at least two of the above areas. Candidate with Master's degree is preferred. For international applicants, TOEFL and GRE are required. The application deadline is early March. There are also multiple Master's degree positions available. Master's degree position needs to be self-supported.
