        Abstract:        A novel type of chiral methacrylamide derivatives, N-[o-(4-phenyl-4,5-dihydro-1,3-oxazol-2-yl)phenyl]methacrylamide ((R)-PhOPMAM), N-[o-(4-isopropyl-4,5-dihydro-1,3-oxazol-2-yl)phenyl]methacrylamide ((S)-PriOPMAM), and N-[o-(4-isopropyl-4,5-dihydro-1,3-oxazol-2-yl)phenyl]methacrylamide ((S)-MeOPMAM), was synthesized and radically polymerized to the corresponding polymers in moderate yields. The polymerization characteristics and the chiroptical behavior of the resultant polymers have been examined in detail by using circular dichroism (CD), UV-Vis, and NMR spectroscopies in comparison with our previous observation. It was found that the oxazoline moieties have an effective influence on both the polymerization process and the optical activity of obtained polymers. Especially, the levorotatory monomer (S)-MeOPMAM ([α]D25 = - 7.7 °) was transformed to the polymers with dextrorotation activity ([α]D25 = + 102.0 ° to + 117.1 °), indicating the polymer main chain might exist a helical conformation. Also, the chiral recognition ability was briefly evaluated by 1H NMR technique for the poly(OPMAM)s. © 2007 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

        Abstract:        A new O/W microemulsion system for transdermal matrine delivery was developed in order to improve the skin permeability and solubility of matrine. Various factors were investigated including solubility of matrine,the skin permeability of matrine aiming to choose suitable surfactants, cosurfactants and oils. By drawing the pseudo-ternary phase diagrams, the basic prescription of microemulsion were determined. A simplex lattice experiment design was adopted to optimize the composition of microemulsions.The mathematical software Matlab be used to calculate the predicted values to determine the optimization of microemulsion formulation. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

        Abstract:        The radical polymerization of optically active methacrylamide derivatives, N-[o-(4-phenyl-4,5-dihydro-1,3-oxazol-2-yl)phenyl]methacrylamide ((R)-PhOPMAM) and N-[o-(4-isopropyl-4,5-dihydro-1,3-oxazol-2-yl)phenyl]methacrylamide ((S)-PriOPMAM), were carried out under various conditions. The effect of the Lewis acid, that is, rare earth metal trifluoromethanesulfonates on the free-radical polymerization were examined under different solvents. The Lewis acids are effective in enhancing the isotacticity in the polymerization of (S)-PriOPMAM. The same phenomenon were not happened in the polymerization of (R)-PhOPMAM. The polymerization characteristics and the chiroptical behavior of the resultant polymers have been examined by using circular dichroism (CD), UV-Vis, and NMR spectroscopies. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.
