But let's see if we can find out what she means. A: Do you know Tom's email address? B: I couldn't tell you off the top of my head, but I have it in my contacts list on my computer. Can I send it to you later? A: Sure. That would be great. Thanks. "Off the top of my head" is a common phrase that means I am trying to remember something, and to give you a quick answer. But if a person's memory is bad, sometimes the information off the top of someone's head is wrong. So it's best to confirm it. And that's English in a Minute. |

off the top my head means I can't tell you the answer in a second. just coz I don't remember that clearly. If I have to, that would be a worng answer. In the other situation, it also means I can tell you the answer rught away, just off the top my head. VOA英语，一分钟英语， 俗语俚语部分。 这个短句的意思指的就是，比如某人突然问我一个事情，我一下子记不起来了，不能马上就回答给你一个准确的答案。 就是I could't tell off the top my head. 但是也可以表示，比如某人问我一件事，由于我很记的很清楚，就是off the top of my head, ...... |
