2013.11.30外语学习、English Cafe、硕博家园YY英语口语交流第六十四期活动公告~

1、活动时间
       活动19:30开始，19:30到20:00之间为Warm Up时间，大家可以和主持人以及活动里面的虫虫热情互动，中英文皆可。大家可以谈谈对活动的建议、体会，也可以谈谈自己最近碰到的有趣的事情、关注的新闻、读的书等，当然不要忘了调试麦克风哦。
       19:30 ~ 20:00 是 Warm Up 时间；
       20:00 ~ 22:00 为 Topic Time ；
       22:00之后         为 Free Talk 时间，欢迎参与。

2、活动目的
    为了使虫友们更好的用英文交流，提高口语水平，emuch每周将提供一个展现自我，提升自我的舞台，由科研生活区主办，EC版、外语版、硕博家园版协办，决定举办“YY英语口语交流活动”。我们希望通过本次活动，能让虫友们认识到口语学习的重要性，提高虫友们对英语口语训练的积极性。

How Does Economy Influence Your Bargaining Power within A Relationship?

When it comes to personal relationship, we’d like to think that it has nothing to do with money or income. However, when we take this issue more seriously, we’ll find that income level or relative income level is really a matter within a relationship regarding to bargaining power and making financial decisions, it is especially the case for married couples.
Many people grew up in families in which father earned most of the money and made all financial decisions, mom did housework and made all decisions around the family.  Consequently, what we are experiencing is a transition because some men in our generation grew up with the expectation that they are going to make all decisions. And now they discover that they need to share their decision making.
1. Who is good at budgeting, male or female?

  
2. Some people may think that it is of great importance to be a decision maker, while others just consider it as a burden.  Please state your point of view.      

   
3. Along with the increase of education rates in women all over the world, how do couples negotiate differently nowadays?

   
4.Who has more power in a relationship? Do you think it depends on economy?

   
5.Some people think that age differences really matter. For instance, if a man gets married to a woman who is younger than himself, the woman will thus transfer a lot of bargaining power away to him. So women in such kind of relationship would have less power in decision making than those who are married to a similar-age man. Do you agree with that?

   
6.If women continue to outearn men, what other changes do you see?

   
7.Do you think talking about money or income is an embarrassing issue within marriage relation?

   
vocabulary explanation:*Bargaining power is the relative ability of parties in a situation to exert influence over each other. If both parties are on an equal footing in a debate, then they will have equal bargaining power,such as in a perfectly competitive market, or between an evenly matched monopoly and monopsony.
*out earn means one earns more than the other.
