有两个短语不懂，求翻译呀！

内容如下： 就是其中的 a high compound identification potential，和 high mass balancing potential分别是什么意思，原文是 When we discuss analytical tools for the analysis of unknown organic matter in waters we can choose techniques with a high compound identification potential, like GC-MS, or high mass balancing potential, like TOC (see Fig. below).
