In theory, signal-to-noise ratio S/N can be done in the following way. Process your spectrum, well phase it and correct the baseline. Locate the strongest peak, integrate over it, (say 0.1 ppm depending the peak width) and the integration is the signal. Now, randomly integrate over N noise regions (i.e., the non-peak regions) of 0.1 ppm wide. The average integration is the noise. signal/noise = S/N Some folks like to figure out S/N using peak height of the strongest peak and the height of the noise regions. They will run into argument of peak-to-peak or root-mean-square noise heights. |
