Dear **, thank you very much for your message expressing interest in joining our group as a PhD student. Your profile is good and ideal for one of the new projects of our lab that utilises the zebrafish. Before we progress further, I'll need to contact some references for letters of support of your candidacy. Can you please send me the contact names and e-mail addresses of 2 or 3 scientists that can send letters of support for your candidacy? Also, I'd appreciate if you sent me a description of what would be your ideal research project, and why. I do not need a long letter.
