Fig. 4 showed the damping performance dependence of the thickness varation of coatting layer and matrix.
in the case of equal thickness of coating (15μm), the damping value of the coating system will rise with thicker substrate.
similarly, in case of equal thickness of substrate, thicker coating layers results into higher damping.
the main factors that worsen damping performances of substrate materials are represented by the overall energy comsuption. under a specific load, thicker XXX(这里测材料指的是substrate 还是涂层,还是两者？XXX代表你要指代的）leads to more enengy comsuption and consequently improved damping performances of the systems. So the overall damping value is related to the total thickness of the system.

一般情况下，在文中描述实验结果是时，比较常用的是现在时。过去时用在实验部分和前言。
