Fig. 4 showed the damping performance of the various coated samples with different substrate and coating thickness.
From Fig.4, in the case of equal thickness of coating (15¦Ìm), the damping of the coating system will rise with increasing thickness of the substrate. Similarly, if the thickness of substrate was equal, a consistent increment of the damping of coating system would be found as the thickness of coating increasing. The thicker the material was, the more the energy consumption of the material was. When a certain load was applied, the damping performance will be improved. So, the system damping value was related to the overall thickness of the system.

Fig. 4 showed the damping performance dependence of the thickness varation of coatting layer and matrix.
in the case of equal thickness of coating (15¦Ìm), the damping value of the coating system will rise with thicker substrate.
similarly, in case of equal thickness of substrate, thicker coating layers results into higher damping.
the main factors that worsen damping performances of substrate materials are represented by the overall energy comsuption. under a specific load, thicker XXX(ÕâÀï²â²ÄÁÏÖ¸µÄÊÇsubstrate »¹ÊÇÍ¿²ã,»¹ÊÇÁ½Õߣ¿XXX´ú±íÄãÒªÖ¸´úµÄ£©leads to more enengy comsuption and consequently improved damping performances of the systems. So the overall damping value is related to the total thickness of the system.
