Natural resveratrol oligomers, commonly consisting of two to eight resveratrols, have drawn increasing attention across the world due to their intriguing structures and potential pharmacological value. Resveratrol oligomers are characterized by dazzling chemical diversities with regard to the degree and pattern of oligomer polymerization, as well as stereochemistry. Most resveratrol oligmers possess antioxidant activities because of polyphenol functions in the molecular and have been considered to be promising new sources of natural antioxidant. However, resveratrol oligomers have been isolated from a relatively small assemblage of plants. Diterocarpaceae, Gnetaceae and Vitaceae make up a significant number of oligstilbenes.
