Because one of my friends is sick here, so I stayed several days in a hospital.
I would like to share this experience with you.
The hospital is a very big complex. Compared with most parts of this city, the hospital is beautiful.
It has three parking lots and a garage, four entrances face these four parking places.
It has a very big lobby on the first floor. The total length of the lobby is about 80 m, with four entrances at one side of the lobby. There are many rest areas in the lobby, beside the windows on the wall. In these areas, there are many chairs and tables, you can seldom find any staff here. So, you can sit and relax there, no guard at the entrances, the doors are automatic.
Because of the big space and not many patients, it is very quiet in the hospital.
Yes, there are two desks in the lobby, one is registration, another is, I think for touring.
The floor on the first floor is covered with tiles, on the second floor, it is covered with carpet.
My friend stayed on the second floor. In the lobby on the second floor, there is still a big space, there are many soft chairs, facing the lobby on the first floor. I was too busy these days, or I think it will be a nice experience to sit on the chair, and talk with a friend.
Kids under 16 are not allowed to visit a patient here. If you want to visit a patient, the first thing you should do is to call a number with phone in the lobby. Then, if you are permited, the door will automatically open, you can go to a ward.
Still, the ward area is quiet. My friend stayed in an ICU, it is a room about 25 m2, with a toilet in the corner, there are also a complicated bed, a couch and a chair, and several monitors, many instruments.
It is very interesting that, about half of the nurses here are men, with "RN" on their badges. I asked what RN for, they said it is for "registered nurse". For the ICU part, they work all night. I think, they will come to the ward about every 30 minutes.
Any other difference from China?
One local person said that the hospitals in USA charged a lot money, doctors and nurses are well paid, and they had very good facilities, he mean the big, well-decorated buildings and the instruments.
Best wishes to my friend! |
