LINE 1: Cobalt, which is brought into the hydroformylation reactor as metal or as cobalt compound, reacts with carbon monoxide to dicobaltoctacarbonyl, which is in equilibrium with cobalt hydrocarbonyl by reaction with hydrogen. Under the usual technical conditions the ratio of both is approximately equal. LINE 2: One of the carbon monoxide ligands is replaced by olefin under formation of a -complex. LINE 3: By addition of carbon monoxide, the a- complex is converted to the cobaltalkyltetracarbonyl via the cobalttricarbonyl compound. LINE 4: There is a quick rearrangement of the cobaltalkyltetracarbonyl compound into the acylcobalt- tricarbonyl compound, which may take up carbon monoxide to give the acylcobalttetracarbonyl compound. T LINE 5 :The cobaltacyl compounds react with hydrogen to give aldehydes and cobalthydrocarbonyls. With the formation of the latter, the catalyst cycle is closed. |
