有关t分布的题，比较困惑！着急！

我这里有道概率分布题有点困惑！请哪位高手能帮忙解一解。 An electrical firm manufactures light bulbs that have a length of life that is approximately normally distributed with a standard deviation of 40 hours.How large a sample is needed if we wish to be 96% confident that our sample mean will be within 10 hours of the true mean? 对于这样求样品数量的题目，是用Z值还是t值来算呢？解题思路应该是怎么样的呢？ 因为星期一就要交作业了，有点急！ 补充：excel表格中Z值的表达函数是什么啊？ [ Last edited by gaoyouya on 2013-4-28 at 10:45 ] |

不好意思喔！其实这道题完整应该是 An electrical firm manufactures light bulbs that have a length of life that is approximately normally distributed with a standard deviation of 40 hours. a) If a sample of 30 bulbs has an average life of 780 hours, find a 96% confidence interval for the population mean of all bulbs produced by this firm. b) How large a sample is needed if we wish to be 96% confident that our sample mean will be within 10 hours of the true mean? 我算出了第一问，是t分布。那么第二问中所需要的Z值应该怎么求呢，可以把第一问中的t值带进来吗？ 因为一般t,z值不是应该在有数量的情况下求得的吗？ 这道题有点懵！应该怎么做呢？ 谢谢！！ |
