半夏具有显著的粘膜刺激作用。
Pinellia ternata has an noteworthy effect on mucosa irritation.
对家兔、鸽、豚鼠、小鼠等一系列实验证实半夏能刺激声带粘膜，引起发炎、水肿甚至失音，这种刺激性是直接刺激咽喉产生的；半夏刺激消化道粘膜而引起呕吐或腹泻；半夏刺激眼结膜引起水肿、水泡、眼睑轻度外翻。
