Open letter from Cambridge Crystallographic Data Centre Dear Colleagues, The Cambridge Crystallographic Data Centre (CCDC) is a non-profit making organisation that accepts depositions of X-ray crystal structure data of organic and metal-organic compounds. We welcome the many Chinese authors who deposit their CIFs (crystallographic information files) with the CCDC. However over 25% of depositions from China are anonymous. The name of a contact author is essential to help answer any questions from CCDC and to match the CIF to a published paper. Depositors should include the following information with their CIFs: Name and email address of the person sending the e-mail Name and email address of a contact author (Supervisor/Professor) Name of the University or Institute If possible, name of the journal to which the manuscript will be submitted. Since it can sometimes be difficult for the CCDC to obtain references for some Chinese publications, it would be very helpful if authors could e-mail a pdf copy of the paper, or provide the citation when a structure is published. CIFs should be sent by e-mail to deposit@ccdc.cam.ac.uk.and should NOT include structure factors. Full details are given at: http://www.ccdc.cam.ac.uk/products/csd/deposit/ Before publication, data are held in a confidential CIF archive at the CCDC. When the published paper is available these data are processed into the Cambridge Structural Database (CSD). We appreciate your help in this matter. Sincerely, Dr Frank H.
