| 美国的教授分tenure track and non-tenure track; If you get a tenure track position, you can work at this university for ever. 一般的学校, 你获得associate professor position 和有科研经费,意谓着得到a tenure track position, 相当于你获得这个学校的铁饭碗. 因此, 对大多数助理教授来说, 得到a tenure track position(=hurdle of tenure breached) 是要经过艰辛的过程. Full professor是指全职教授(教书和科研都搞), 不一定指正教授, 有些只管教学(Teaching professor)或只管科研(Research professor)的教授往往是 non-tenure track, 没有终身保障. |
