| The concept of endemism is central to the study of biogeography. pertaining to a taxon that is restricted to the geographic area specified. Endemism concerns not only a number of evolutionary and biogeographical issues, but also play an important role in biodiversity conservation and help to select the priority areas. In recent years, researchers have used various measures and analytical methods to investigate patterns of endemism for various taxa and in different regions. With the phylogenetic tree constructed well and implantation of measures from spatial statistics, the new measures came into being, some of which are worthy of attention, such as phylogenetic diversity, phylogenetic endemism, and biogeographically weighted evolutionary distinctiveness. In this paper, we reviewed literature pertaining to measurement methods for distribution patterns of endemism. These metrics have gone from a single time and space to the space-time united patterns. These metrics include the species richness, the phylogenetic diversity, the evolutionary distinctiveness as well as all combinations of above three metrics and the weight of range size of species. Moreover, we proposed that the perspectives of studies on distribution patterns of Chinese endemic taxa should pay attention to species diversity, phylogenetic diversity, species ¦Â-diversity, and phylogenetic ¦Â-diversity. Meanwhile, the means of model simulation analysis should be emphasized and implanted. These studies will provide background knowledge in order to more comprehensively recognize the differences at different scales and further detect mechanisms and processes for the distribution patterns of endemic taxa, thus provide better theoretical support for biodiversity conservation. |

Thus, we can provide appropriate theoretical to support conservation on biodiversity. |
