Semibatch Process As an example, acrylamide (0.8 g, 11.26 mmol), 20wt % of the total 0.2 g of the polyDMAEMA-DMSmacromonomer (Table 1, entry 10;molecular weight after quaternization ＝27,400; 0.040 g,0.00146 mmol of polyDMAEMA-DMS chains),and 30 wt % of the total 10 mg of AIBA (3 mg) in16.8 mL of deionized water (5 wt % of the totalsolution consisted of monomers) were initially charged to a reactor equipped with a magnetic stirrer and were purged with high-purity nitrogen for 30 min. PolyDMAEMA-DMS macromonomer (160 mg) and 7 mg of AIBA in 3.2 mL of deionized water were fed into the reactor at a constant feeding rate controlled by a pump during a 2-h period. A sample (0.5 mL) was taken each time at preset time intervals with a degassed syringe and was precipitated in methanol.
